CPUC delays smart meter opt-out case for the fifth time

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has delayed the smart meter opt out proceeding (A-11-03-014) for a fifth time- until Oct 4, 2014.

According to their own rules they were supposed to complete the proceeding in December 2013.┬á They say the reason for the delay is “The issues in this proceeding are complex and require additional time to resolve.”

  1. My hunch about the repeatedly continued postponement of the PUC decision on the illegitimacy of opt-out fees is that their legal team simply can’t come up with any bona fide legal authority to charge them. “The issues in this proceeding are complex . . .”–read, “insurmountable”. Hence they refuse to piss or get off the pot.
